✨ "There’s a type of dance I did once called English Country dance where there isn’t much or any physical contact with your dance partner. Instead there is a lot of eye contact, as opposed to contra dance where you are always physically connected to your partner or neighbors. What most people find with English country dance is that it is more intimate, because instead of touch you hold each other with your eyes. It is truly a vulnerable and beautiful experience, and I always finish each dance with a well of tears in my eyes. Don’t get me wrong, I love being swung around, twirled, dipped etc with a dance partner, but sometimes something gets lost in the physical. I’m not saying this is always true, but I’m curious if we used discernment for when one was more appropriate than the other, or are we avoiding one more than the other.
