Kamias (Averrhoa bilimbi) is a highly acidic, green tropical fruit native to Southeast Asia. Widely grown in Filipino backyards, it is mostly used as a natural souring agent for local dishes like sinigang and paksiw, or eaten raw dipped in rock salt.
Due to its natural acidity, it is sometimes used locally to remove tough stains and clean metals.
