I'm becoming more convinced that if AI can do something, simply means that whatever that thing is, I can simply do without in my life and lead a better life, though, possibly less convenient in some ways. I'm less concerned about convenience these days. My scale for judgement has shifted much farther towards the eternal. Being able to code a widget on OPC (other peoples' compute) does not get me closer to living the life I wish to live, which will, if I hold up my end, have impacts in the world that anyone thinking about how to shave code creation time down to near instant cannot understand. I'm a fan of efficiency, so don't take what I'm saying as an attack on efficiency, but... If you efficiently build your own demise, what's so good about that? In fact, it's more than a little stupid.
This is more aimed at those who are super hyped about "AI's transformative powers" or other such twaddle. It's just another tool, at best, and at worst, it's literally rotting brains and turning even more people into deluded, screen addicted, inconsequential, and diminished humans.
And that, dear friends and others, makes me sad. I only see AI as another means to dim humans' shine. I'll not partake in this.
