NOSTR SAFEBOX IS ON THE PATH TO BECOMING QUANTUM-SAFE!!! This was a big lift over the past week, but I managed to get the quantum-safe algorithms from Open Quantum Safe (OQS) integrated into my #nostr #safebox build. I've already built an experimental relay that accepts and verifies quantum-safe #nostr events. I hope to turn that into a NIP that all relays can implement. The next step was to incorporate the algorithms in the client app. Over the coming months, I will be fiiguring out how to incorporate quantum-safe algorithms for the signing of long-lived records (and credentials) and the encryption of sensitive records. Why do I care about this? First of all, I wanted a credible response to the Harvest Now and Decrypt Later (HNDL) threat - remote, but it is giving everyone pause and is source of major FUD that paralyzes everying to do nothing. Second of all, I want to build a system that is resilient that nobody can take down, and every user has the cryptographic asssurance that their data and transactions are safe, secure and private. Finally, with hands-on experience, I can actually validate if these algorithms are legitimate and trustworthy. I know of other independent implementations and I should be in a position to ask some hard questions based on what I've learned from my experience. Onward!
