Wildfire smoke warning. Going outside right now is the equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes. How’s your night going?

Running private payments and securely sharing personal records through a decentralized relay-backed system using cheap NFC card could be a real category-killer. This is the vision of #nostr #safebox. In pilot discussions with a local food bank that wishes to accept bitcoin donations and then disburse cheap NFC cards to people who don’t have phones. Though it is bitcoin underneath, everything just looks like fiat payments for food. If the card is lost, and the holder remembers the access key, they can self recover and issue themselves a new card (< 25 cents). If the card and key are lost, the funds still remain in the food bank treasury, but with a blinded mint liability, that can eventually be re-purposed if necessary. What’s also cool, I can issue voucher to the card - so in addition to funds, a client can receive other credits for services, etc. And it is all designed to work with Web of Trust, so if different food banks decide to trust one another, they can negotiate and set up directly- not be rug-pulled by a platform provider. The two nation-state apex-level trades right now: 1. Oil for dollars 2. Compute for electricity.
