I hate government overreach and watching the empire I live in fall apart just as much as the next guy, but when examining the history of empires I have to wonder if this is the highest level of human civilization possible. We as collective humans are bound and constrained by our unwillingness to lay down our lives for each others benefits and the wealthier we seem to get the more difficult that seems to become.
