My current favorite passtime is watching YouTube investment and trading channels. Not because I want their advice, but rather because I am getting a kick out of all the interesting ways they're seeing things breaking. The comedy is that I'm not sure that most of them are wrong even though a lot of them are focusing the blame of different things from one another. I mean, I don't think that people suffering is funny. But I do find it comical that so many things are broken that no one can agree on which broken things are causing problems today.

A good friend of mine owed me $40. She offered to pay me back today. I told her to buy herself some bitcoin with it instead. She just sent me a screenshot of her buy. Next, to teach her and her boyfriend about self-custody. Regardless, today was a good day.

I know that what I'm about to say flies in the face of what social media has become and thus how too many people (in my opinion) view the world, but I think a lot of people here, at least for now, will understand what I'm trying to say. I find it better to be the person that, in a time of fear and panic, others ask, "What can I do about it? What I can I do to be ready?" than the person that people are afraid to talk to when times get scary. To be this person, at least for me, requires being completely comfortable being called "crazy" more often than not. It also requires having a since of humor about most things. And, it requires being honest with myself and others regarding my mistakes. I hope that as things get rougher and scarier, which I'm powerless to stop, that people who know me feel comfortable asking me how to get though it. They already know my answers: have the skills of at least a fair amount of self sufficiency (grow a garden, own and know how to use firearms, some level of mechanical knowledge) , own and self custody bitcoin, and know how to peacefully interact with others. But, a lot of the time, people ask to hear what they know they need to hear, whether they liked it before or not.

Federal Reserve to launch instant payment service 'FedNow' in July

The Fed's years-long project to stand up an instant payments system, FedNow, will finally be launched later this year., we ask one this was coming. Now we have confirmation.

So, I keep asking myself if Credit Suisse will be bailed out or if they will be allowed to fail. And, if they're allowed to fail, will it happen on, say... Friday? You know, just after the markets close for the weekend... I'm really just wondering this because I have an irrational feeling that getting ahead of this will help me determine what kind of beer to buy for the weekend.

It's kind of odd thinking about the fact that we are now living through the event that Bitcoin was created for. Sure, sure, Bitcoin was created for a lot of reasons because sound money fixes a great many problems and opens the door to fix our prevent a great many more. But, it looks a whole lot like the actual and necessary correction that was prevented in the '08 response is happening and is likely already past the point of "no return." Do I believe that Bitcoin will do what's it's meant to do? Yes. Am I anxious about how this whole thing is going to fall out? Also, yes. Just because I have prepared in a number of ways, doesn't mean the transition isn't going to bring some rough times. I mean, I don't know about you all. Some of you may be vampires or something (to be read as a joke), but I have never witnessed such a sea change event.

Between Operation Chokepoint 2.0, a bank run, and bank collapses, we should get ready for normies to start asking us a lot of questions. It's probably a good time make sure we're ready and able to give succinct but informative and truthful answers. I know that many of us here have seen what Satoshi offered for what it is. But we can't expect people who believed in the system and who were treated well by the system to gravitate toward sound money the way so many of us did. We need to be prepared to explain the realities that they're about to experience patiently and honestly.

After all of these years I still struggle to explain to people who what to use BTC to "make money" that bitcoin is the money.

I see a lot of people talking about how some of the March Off Twitter people at still stopping by Twitter. Now, I never said I would avoid Twitter any more than usual. But, my guess is that no one here ever saw me on Twitter unless it's was me posting my npub in a few threads. I have really only used Twitter to find headlines that interest me that I didn't find otherwise. That's what it was always for to me. Here's the thing: Nostr is great, and currently, the environment here is great. But I also need to find information about not so great things. And if you want to see what bullshit is happening or there, Twitter is still bullshit central. I look forward to the day when it no longer makes sense for me to even have a horrid blue bird account. But currently, I haven't found enough accounts on Nostr that talk about the things other than Bitcoin and Nostr that I need to know about.

I just watched Powell's testimony to the House committee. I'm a masochist, I guess. Now I need a shower to wash off all of the stupidity I just witnessed.
