The Economics/Supply and Demand for Bitcoin Full Node hardware & software is under-discussed in the Bitcoin space. I think it’s because people mistakenly think of full nodes as just a boring Bitcoin “cost center” for back office accounting work rather than fundamentally essential to Bitcoin’s entire value proposition. To make matters worse, too many people mistakenly put ASICs on a pedestal and inaccurately understand the Hashrate as a Bitcoin “profit center” when it’s really a “break-even center” While Hashrate and Full Nodes are both essential… too many Bitcoiners mistakenly prioritize the interests of Hashrate over the interests of the Full Node. People need to take a step back and check their priors on how to optimize Bitcoin for its monetary purpose.
