When it comes to Bitcoin adoption as a medium of exchange, most people cite Gresham’s Law. Bad money gets spent first. Good money gets hoarded. Let’s take it a step further. Producers who understand and accept bitcoin early have a leg up on the competition. They can keep quality high because the cost of their inputs is not rising faster than their savings. Likewise, consumers who save in bitcoin see their lives improve and can afford higher quality goods. Those high quality goods are increasingly made by bitcoin forward companies with less and less incentive to deal in fiat at all. What starts at the high end eventually trickles down as more companies see the value of bitcoin and fewer need to accept fiat.

Nostr growth feels stalled. We keep hearing there are only XX,000 users and that number hasn’t moved much. Lets take a step back and remember where we were 3 years ago. All the Nostr clients were dogshit compared to where they are today. Sure, it was new and exciting, but it kinda sucked. The fact that this turned into good clients and a robust base of adamant users who aren’t fucking going back is amazing. Nostr was never going to take over legacy social media overnight. We want it to, just like we want Bitcoin price action to stop being boring, but revolutionary technologies take time. It’s incredible that we are where we are. Nostr is here to stay, and so are we.

Getting people to try out Nostr isn't as much of a problem as getting them to stay. How do we fix this?

For creators, moving your social presence to Nostr is a bet on the future. Owning your content, identity, and experience is powerful. The more people who see that, the more will come here. It’s not going away. Yet solely existing on Nostr is not enough. The upside and better experience make it worth building here. There just aren’t enough people here yet to fund your life. If you’re betting on Nostr, it is incumbent upon you to go out into the world and bring people over. Nostr doesn’t fail without that. It just grows slower and is less useful for you as a creator if fewer people are here. Nostr only is awesome. Nostr focused is more effective.
