i don't understand how eric weinstein acquired the label of a contemporary intellectual. a quick search suggests he's considered a genius. i listened to an interview where he presented his centralized ideas on resolving online anonymous trolling, ideas he struggled to explain or articulate clearly. it's evident he's been deeply burnt by trolls, but even with his intelligence, does he genuinely believe a piece of software or a set of code can fundamentally alter human nature? often intellectuals are hyper-focused on a single subject, lacking the understanding and application of humanity's best and worst aspects within their work. if anything, big tech has consistently been exploitative.
