Before Covid I was laser focused on getting into a PhD program to become a clinical psychologist and researcher.
But then I lost all trust in our institutions and veered off that path.
Phew, thanks Covid!

Lately I’ve been doing my best to slow down and be grateful. I’ve been blessed in many ways and one of those is being able to travel. The raw beauty of the U.S. southwest is like that of another world.
Relaxation does not come naturally to me. Growing up in financial uncertainty creates a scarcity mindset that can often get in the way of enjoying what you’ve already achieved.
After quitting my job last month, there’s been a slow wave of relaxation and appreciation washing upon my shores. That job opened up a lot for me and I’m forever grateful. But it became an overwhelming stressor that was taking a physical and mental toll on me.
I’m not done working yet, and I will need to get back to it soon. But the ability to take a break and figure out where I want to go next is an achievement in and of itself. I want to bring my best and whole self to the table at whatever comes next. And for that, I needed some time to explore.
The future is uncertain, but I remain confidently optimistic. However, I’m also acutely aware that the uncertainty of our existence means we must appreciate this moment, because it is truly all we have.

My friend asked me why I spent bitcoin on a hamburger last week.
“That hamburger is gonna cost you $100 soon”
My brother in Christ I have no fiat and I’m hungry.
If you aren’t spending bitcoin, you aren’t all in on bitcoin. ⚡️⚡️

Carlsbad Caverns. New Mexico. Truly a wild journey into the depths of the earth.

The other day I walked up to a small burger stand in Alpine, TX to ask if they accepted cards. She said no, but she accepted cash, barter, and bitcoin.
I usually seek out vendors that accept bitcoin, but this one was completely by chance. First time that’s happened to me.
She only accepted on-chain payments through a static QR, but I was happy to use it. I told her about lightning, but she said she doesn’t want a cell phone, which I respect. But hopefully one day she’ll accept lightning for faster processing and privacy. Anyway, she totally gets it and saves any bitcoin she gets in cold storage.
And it was truly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. High quality beef, homemade buns, and raw milk cheddar.
If you ever find yourself in Alpine, TX (Big Bend region of Texas), grab a burger at Bock Burger and send her some sats. I told her about @BTC Map so hopefully you’ll be able to find her on there soon.

I’m a complete noob when it comes to actually reading Mises. Starting down the rabbit hole with The Ultimate Foundation of Economic Science. I’m pleasantly surprised to see how much he has to say about epistemology.
