It's a clever move to “overtake” Monero as privacy coin number one (marketcap only, but enough for avg user) and simultaneously establish a new “pump and dump” coin, because the original Bitcoin is no longer performing well (sticks at 100k).

What is good is never totalitarian, but it is consistent. Monero is consistent in its focus on privacy.
