The state does not want the good of the people, and the people can never count on the state for anything. If we had depended on the state, people would have burned to death and homes would have been lost. Thanks to God and to all the locals, in the end everything turned out as well as it possibly could. Everything is gray around us now, but one day it will all be green again.

About the State: We need to stop treating these people as our friends. We need to stop pretending and lying to ourselves that they can be defeated and turned into powerful allies to advance the values and tools we wish to see in the world. They are not our friends. They will not become allies, sharing a common cause with us. They are our enemies. It is time to stop pretending. These people must be regarded as hostile and treated as such.
