Jim is a 48 year old accountant He goes on a hike with his kids and sprains his ankle. No fracture but it’s a nasty one Context: Jim wears dress shoes ~10 hours a day that disable and deform his feet and spends ~14 hours a day sitting in chairs which creates imbalances at his hip that make him vulnerable to injury Option 1: disease care Jim visits his doctor who prescribes Tylenol and Advil to deal with the pain and 6 weeks of physiotherapy to rehab the injury Jim does 12 physiotherapy sessions (2x/wk for 6wks) which costs him $1,200 and 18 hours of his time After the 12 weeks Jim has regained 80% of his pre-injury ankle function and goes back to life as usual Jim continues to have a nasty ankle sprain every few years and does the same routine each time Option 2: healthcare Jim’s brother Andy found out about Apollo from his pickleball partner and has been running the software in his life for 3 months.
