When someone goes through something traumatic , or a heavy loss, the progress back to normal is not linear or in a straight line. It’s full of volatility. What do we know about volatility? You can’t have volatility to the upside without also having it to the downside. It’s the higher lows that make the difference, not the higher highs. When you fall again or relapse (and you will) how far did you fall? Did you not fall as far as the time before? That’s where the real progress is.
