I was listening to a podcast recently featuring the founder of new DWeb/Web3 product. He talked about the criticism he’s received related to his built-in-public work. An interesting feature of this beautiful ecosystem we are living and creating in is that it allows us to build in public, like artists painting in a town square. We are sharing the development process and progress of our projects in real time, being transparent about the ideas, challenges, and milestones, as well as engaging with the community for feedback and collaboration. Although some commentary the founder speaking on the podcast has received has been encouraging and helpful, much of it has been harsh and unkind. When asked why he remained willing to make himself vulnerable as a creator he responded, “I don’t mind being seen trying.” That line resonated with me. I’ve been asked why I’m willing to put my journey with mental health out in public, to struggle and recover transparently. The answer is simple: I don’t mind being seen trying. I hope I can inspire others to try, too.
