It started with two El Salvadorians Geraldo and Evelyn in May last year with nothing but the dream of creating a bitcoin economy. They sold salvadorian bakeries to finance plastic chairs for the first bitcoin meet ups in garage. That's how you build something with bitcoin. Now around 150 merchants accept bitcoin. They've built the bitcoin center, where you can meet and learn! The highschool is being taught about bitcoin. And there are lots of projects in the making. Here in El Salvador I come to realise how tyrannical Canada has become. Almost 50% of the people in the bitcoin space here are Canadians and it's the largest foreign nationality in El Salvador. I've met already two persons who's bank accounts were frozen. The government is going after free speech with the introduction of Bill C-63. People can bring in complaints for zero cost. The incentive structure is aligned for the accuser. An approved accusition (which is decided centralised) has zero cost, but might bring the accuser 20000 $, while the accused person can be fined up to 50000$. Penalties are reaching up to life long imprisonment. Furthermore just on the premise, that you might cause harm online the government can ban you from social media. The first thing that is taken away in the decline to tyrannism is freedom of speech. (Besides money of course!) People will start to snitch for reasons, that aren't existent and you will find yourself in the Sowjet union pretty soon!
