Got some beautiful beef shanks from my local butcher today 😍 It’s one of my favorite cuts for slow cooking. So, of course, I had to make Khao Soi for dinner. 🍜 Khao Soi is a comforting bowl from Northern Thailand and has influences from Burmese and Chinese Muslim cuisines, packed with deep flavors and warmth. Slow-braised beef shanks in a rich, coconut curry broth, served with egg noodles two ways—soft and silky, plus crispy fried for that perfect crunch. Topped it off with pickled mustard greens, shallots, chili oil, and a squeeze of lime. 🤤 #foodstr #homecooking
Colorful-Rainbowl for lunch! 😋 A quick and easy one-pan miso-butter chicken bowl. While the chicken thighs were searing, I chopped the veggies and boiled the corn, then added butter once it was done. When the chicken was fully cooked, I took it out of the pan and added broth, miso, butter, shoyu, and mirin, letting it all simmer for about five minutes. And just like that—lunch is ready! 😊 #food #foodstr #homecooking
GM 🥭 The sun already feels a bit too warm for this early in the morning. It’s going to be a hot, sunny day. I got our laundry done and hung it out to dry, so it’ll have that nice, fresh sun-kissed smell when I fold it. 😌 I also cut up some dragon fruit and mango. Good Saturday! It’s 94 degrees here! 🥵 We had to drive to town for something, so we decided to have lunch at my favorite local restaurant. Isaan food is one of the favorite cuisines among both Thais and foreigners. It’s known for its spicy, bold, yet fresh and flavorful dishes like som tam (papaya salad), larb, and more. My favorite kind of Isaan spicy salad is made with lotus stem—it’s fresh, crisp, light, and packed with flavor! On the way back home, I was lucky enough to stop by this ice cream cart! They had delicious, creamy coconut ice cream—the perfect palate cleanser after our flavorful meal. Good day, everyone!! #food #foodstr #siamstr

This is one of my best finds! A ceramic grater! I found this one at a second-hand store for $0.50 😁 I’m now marinating chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken) – 1/2 lb of boneless chicken (thighs or breast), 1 tbsp shoyu, 1 tbsp sake, 1/2 tbsp mirin, and about 1–2 tsp of grated ginger. Yes, it’s fried chicken for lunch 😂🤣 image
I think the key to being alive and happy is having real food, enjoying the process of making and preparing it, and sharing meals with good company—all in moderation. One indulgent meal won’t kill you, just as eating a pound of steak won’t instantly make you healthier. You can just eat things It’s plum mango season! This exotic tropical fruit comes around only once a year, so I make the most of it. I made a plum mango pie—a fun twist on key lime pie. Marian plum, also known as Plum mango or Maprang, is a tropical fruit that tastes like a blend of mango and apricot. Some varieties have a slight tang, but the one we have is incredibly sweet and juicy. It’s one of my favorite fruits, and since it only bears fruit once a year, it’s always worth the wait. Right now, I’m enjoying a buffet straight from the tree, savoring every bite as the twilight sets in. Feeling blessed! 🫶🏽✨
