Just finished cutting into this big boy! 😮‍💨 Jackfruit is a tropical fruit with a unique flavor when it’s ripe, the flesh tastes like a mix of pineapple, banana, and mango. I didn’t weigh it, but I’m pretty sure it’s over 20 lbs! For anyone curious: cutting jackfruit can be a bit of a mission. It’s super sticky inside, so it helps to oil your knife and hands first. Then I usually cut it into sections, remove the core, and pull out the golden pods one by one. So grateful to have access to this through my parents’ harvest. Feeling lucky and thankful! 🙏🏽😊 #foodstr
The gentle crackle of bread, fresh from the oven, is one of the sweetest sounds I know 😌 #sourdough #breadstr #foodstr #zapcooking
Pad Kee Mao, or Drunken Stir-Fried, 🥴 is a fun, spicy dish bursting with herbal fragrance. It’s one of my favorites… not just because it’s delicious, but because it features two herbs I absolutely love: fingerroot and fresh green peppercorns. There’s something about the earthy aroma of fingerroot that really makes the dish shine. And those little pops of green peppercorns? They add such a fun texture and kick. My parents recently brought me some of their homegrown Ceylon peppercorn. Lucky me! ☺️😁 #foodstr #zapcooking
This is my very first homegrown radish and I couldn’t stop laughing when I pulled it up. It’s a little wonky, a little wild, but I’m still proud of this root rebel. Learning as I grow… quite literally! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 image
My parents came to visit us and brought organic veggies from their garden 🪴 Eggplant, sponge gourd, turkey berry, bottle gourd, bitter melon, bird’s eye chilies, winged beans, and some mangoes! Our veggie stash should last us about a week! 🥰😁 image
I bought a pineapple a few days ago, but it wasn’t as sweet or juicy as I’d hoped. So, I decided to make the best of it by turning it into Kaeng Som Kua Sapparot (แกงส้มคั่วสับปะรด), a Thai sour curry with pineapple. It’s usually made with shrimp or mussels, but my grandma always said “you can swap seafood for chicken”, and honestly, it worked out great! The curry is tangy, spicy, just enough sweet from the pineapple and very forgiving just like my grandma! Gosh, I miss her! 🥹 #foodstr #zapcooking image
Hi everyone! 👋🏽 I’ve been noticing stingless bees visiting my blue butterfly bush every morning, and I’m thinking about starting a small hive to help with garden pollination. I’m a complete beginner and would love any tips like how to start or what to avoid. Not aiming for honey, just excited to learn and support them 😊 Thank you so much! 🙏🏽 #asknostr #beekeepers
My marguerite daisy is happily blooming. it melts my heart. ☺️ I gently gather the blossoms and nestled sweetly into my collection and tuck them in my fruit box. #foodstr #flowerstr
