Grey skies and smell of rain in the air. I’m cutting up these oyster mushrooms, not sure yet what I’ll make with them. Maybe something warm and simple? All ideas appreciated if anyone’s feeling inspired. ☺️

Tried making chicken pot pie last night. Not a total fail… but definitely not my best. I underestimated the heat—big mistake. Froze the butter, cranked the AC on full-blast, thought I was prepared. But nope. The second that butter came out of the freezer, it basically evaporated in front of me. The moment the rolling pin touched the dough, the butter had already melted. I just stood there like ??!! So yeah… note to self: any kind of lamination needs a kitchen that’s basically a walk-in freezer. The pie? Not terrible. More like creamy chicken with a side of shortbread. 10/10 for flavor, 2/10 for flakiness, and 100/10 for effort. 😂😂😂😂

The weather’s looking hot and muggy again today, so I’m getting the refreshments box ready. Some Paddington Bear 🐻 and Peter Rabbit 🐰 dragon fruits, plus a few oranges and strawberries to help us stay cool. #foodstr

Planted my first batch of tomato seeds on March 28th using a mix of peat moss, soil, coconut husk, and rice husk—just like a bunch of websites recommended. It took weeks for them to sprout, and even then, they looked kinda slow and tired. So I tried again on April 12th with a different mix: rain tree leaves, coconut husk, soil, and cow manure. I also topped it off with some vermicompost to keep the surface damp but not too wet. And wow—this second batch sprouted in just a few days! The seedlings look stronger, healthier, and way fresher. Like they’re actually excited to grow. Looking back, I think the first mix was too dense, especially in this crazy heat. I had to water twice a day, and I’m guessing the roots didn’t have enough space or air to grow properly. The second mix is much lighter, and clearly, the plants are loving it. Nature’s teaching me, one seed at a time. Time to adjust, learn, and let’s fucking growing!! 🌱

They said orecchiette means “little ears”… but mine came out looking more like scoops of vanilla ice cream 🍨 Or maybe I just made them too big to qualify as “little” ears? 😂 Or I’m just got craving some vanilla ice cream? #foodstr
