I've been quiet most of this week because I've been *slightly* off the grid and just chilling in rural Maryland while house sitting (and pool sitting and dog sitting) but I spent a bunch of time messing around with the Anbernic RG35XX running GarlicOS so I'll probably do some posts about that...
I love seeing a 2022 YouTube video hailing a "new technique" that seems to be the same thing I saw done by someone I know back in 2016...
I almost used "IRL" (In Real Life) and "online" as opposing things but then switched it to "offline" and "online" because you know what? Online life *is* real life.
My wife sent me a photo and said "Cat is broken" so I told her to reboot it and she sent another photo "That fixed it!" #cats #fediCats #catsOfMastodon
I saw an old co-worker and told her I still do contract work for the place we both worked at 4 years ago. She called me a saint for keeping things working there and I said "Ha! You haven't seem my hourly rate!"
My wife went to Door County (Wisconsin) without me and I said "Get me some syrup!" and she returned with a 1/2 gallon! That should last a few months at least if I stick to my normal pancake regiment. image
I had lunch with two of my friends who moved to China in 2019 for school & work and wow... they had some amazing stories! (One including a very threatening monkey on a mountain.) It was cool to hear about the things they miss from the US (and the list of things they;ll take back with them) but ultimately they said they would probably never return to the US since health care here is so expensive.
These prints turned out pretty bad but they were really just a test (that mostly failed). #art #printMaking image
Weird issue with GarlicOS on the RG35XX today. Games launch, then quit, and the screen blinks/flashes repeatedly. (Doesn’t happen when I switch back to stock OS.) #garlicOS #anbernic #rg35xx
I finally got a new typewriter. (The one on the right.) I had a blue "Easy Writer" about 30 years ago and someone lost it in the many moves over the years. Yes, it's plastic, yes, it's a "toy", and yes, it really types. A friend of mine who collects typewriters managed to find it for me so I bought it from her. Sweet! #milwaukee #qwerty #typewriter image
Many years ago I ended up staying with an old ex-girlfriend when I traveling. I'd been married a long time, and she was seeing someone long term, but it was great to reconnect and meet her partner. A few years passed and she and her partner split up. Which was awkward for me, because I *really* liked her partner. He seemed extremely cool and interesting, and was very creative. I still follow some of his work online, but I don't know... it just feels weird.
I’ve been quiet lately but I’m deeply immersed in PICO-8 games… #pico8 #retroGaming #handheld
I designed and (relief) printed a generic birthday card. My plan is/was to do a bunch of different ones and have them sitting around ready to go when an unexpected birthday sneaks up on me. Would you prefer a hand-printed card (that I actually designed) to a store-bought card? #art #design #printing #printMaking #birthday image
