Mexican government takes control of 2 Mexican banks facing US sanctions

The National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), a government agency, has taken control of the Mexican banks CIBanco and Intercam.

Merida Mexico, quite possibly because it’s in the top 3 safest cities in ALL of North America, has been attracting a lot of new residents from across Mexico and many other countries. I’d personally say Europe, Canada and USA form the largest expat group in the area. Well over 1 million people in our beautiful city. As you can imagine, reaching other Bitcoiners locally is one of our greatest challenges. And just simply biweekly meetups isn’t growing the bitcoin fam as intended. Today I had the blessing to connect with another Maxi, living Here in the city over 2 years, and we just finally crossed paths. I’m so so excited to have a new member of our growing Bitcoin community. But the bittersweet part is, how the heck did it take 2 years to connect! Next on the drawing board… how to get out there and find our people. Clearly there’s more of us. Together we become stronger! Slowly then suddenly!

Thank you to all members of our community who took the time to come teach the 2nd Trezor Academy Class last week. We had a fun review before class began, handed out chocolates for the many correct answers! Huge thank you to @Bitrefill for sharing vouchers to 2 lucky students! We held a raffle, 2 students who received a paper with the #21 each learned how easy it is to use Bitcoin in real life, it was awesome to see their excitement when they realized they can top up their cell phones, shop on Amazon, order uber eats and gaming of course!
