Nostr is turning into a bit of an echo chamber about Bitcoin and Nostr. I keep getting sucked back into twitter scrolling. Would like to see a bit more non-bitcoin and non-Nostr posts over here.

Need book suggestions for a nocoiner friend finally coming around to Bitcoin. "I’d like it to be somewhat technical where it explains current monetary policy and makes the case for BTC and why and how it might fix the problems it presented. I’d like it to be somewhat technical where it explains current monetary policy and makes the case for BTC and why and how it might fix the problems it presented." (Thinking maybe he should start with some articles from #[0])

Someone should make a Bitcoin wallet called "Lifeboat" where it's almost like a gamified financial literacy + savings app for Bitcoin evangelists to onboard their friends & family. Everyone starts off on the Titanic after it hit the iceberg. Locating the lifeboat = connecting to your Bitcoiner friend Launching the lifeboat = Bitcoiner friend helps you setup a Bip85 style child wallet Then as you stack it can be various upgrades. Calculating your net worth. Setting up a DCA. Setting up a lightning wallet. Reaching Bitcoin savings goals. Paying off high interest loans. Leaving the child seed & setting up your own multisig. Onboarding other friends & family to the lifeboat

The people of Russia should not be punished for Putin’s war. Russian speakers need to learn about Bitcoin now more than ever. Check out this Geyser project where someone is translating Bitcoin educational material & making Bitcoin courses for native Russian speakers. Your zaps to this project are appreciated!

It’s ok if you own NFTs or have purchased them B or feel fomo around them - but the NFT people are some of the dumbest grifters on the planet. NFT culture is societal cancer. Really hoping that the bitcoin virus infects them as they grift with ordinals rather than them influencing bitcoin culture. Listening to them in spaces is like living the movie Idiocracy. Bitcoin’s existing nft culture with rare Pepes on counterparty is so much more tolerable and respectable compared to these crypto nft dummies.

My daughter is 12 years old turning 13 soon. My wife’s been struggling with letting her walk home from school and go places around the neighborhood with her friends. So we finally caved on getting her a phone as a trade off to letting her have more independence. We let her have a cell phone with the following rules: -it’s our phone not hers -she has to keep it charged and keep it with her when she’s not home so we can see where she is. -she has screen time limits of 5:30 daily -she has to answer when we call -she acknowledges that we will be monitoring her messages and communications for her safety. -she can’t use social media apps like tik tok, Snapchat, Instagram, etc. -wear a whoop so we can encourage each other to be active and not let the phone give us bad physical activity habits. So far so good, but I’m worried she’s not active enough already before getting her the phone. Since the pandemic we kept her home from school so she would not have to wear a mask all day. She developed poor habbits because all of her physical activities (hockey, karate, school) went out the window. She wanted a dog forever and we finally capitulated because she promised to take care of him. I thought she would be able to go on lots of walks etc with the dog … but he was a demon for the first year and we still have all the scars to show for it. She is back in real school this year which has been great for her mentally and physically, but since the pandemic she only seems to be interested in playing games with friends, listening ti music and drawing … she plays hockey once a week still but quit karate. I bought a meta quest to try to encourage more physical activity in games, but she got tired of that quickly and didn’t really give anything but beat saber a shot. I don’t want to force her to enroll in physical activities, but I’m looking for tips on how to navigate this over the next couple of years as she becomes a young woman and more independent and opinionated. She’s a great kid, does well in school independently and doesn’t get into trouble. Anyone have any good resources for how to be a better parent and how to raise a teenage girl the right way?

BOUNTY: Can someone make me a cool animated banner and profile pic for Nostr? ( it’s ok if you use AI ) Looking for something related to my current Robinhood pfp. I identify with Robin Hood because he was not an anti-capitalist who stole from the rich, he actually stole from the scammers and used the proceeds to buy nice uniforms for his merry men. Like Robin Hood, I extract from crypto scammers and use the proceeds to support developers, entrepreneurs, artists & educators building ethically on Bitcoin layers (and bitcoin adjacent like Nostr) The current pic is of Cary Elwes from Robin Hood Men in Tights. I’ve been told I look like him a lot, and I don’t take myself too seriously. (A good way to stay humble while stacking sats is to choose a pfp of a silly character.) I also chose it because Cary Elwes also played Dread Pirate Roberts in Princess Bride, so it’s a nod to Ross Ulbricht. (If it’s possible to mix Robin Hood with my own image that might also look cool, I’ll reply with a couple pics for AI) I will pay 0.001337 BTC for each & I’ll zap any good submissions I don’t use!

Is there any reason to keep a smaller set of relays instead of a larger one? I suppose spam reduction is better if you only connect to paid relays that offer spam reduction?

There should be a way to “save” profiles that you want to follow but don’t want to see all of their posts. Bots and games for instance.

Recorded a really good conversation with #[0], Austin Alexander and #[1]. We talked about Bitcoin Maximalism, Drivechains (BIP 300/301), Ordinals, Nostr, Casa adding ETH, protocol ossification and Liquid Network. Consensus: Sidechains now! image
