I started spinning on my cross arm spindle (aka Turkish spindle) using the supported spin method so I can rest in bed while I do it. I'm trying to keep crafting while staying as comfortable as possible during these last weeks of the third trimester. I don't want to push myself at all because I want these babies to bake as long as possible inside so they can avoid NICU time. the fiber is from a roving braid I dyed ages ago. It's a really easy spin with a nice staple length that drafts really smoothly. It's a slow going process compared to the other crafts I do but slowing down is part of the goal right now. #spinningyarn #yarnstr

a fate worse than death!

7 more weeks to go. seems so close yet so far away. My belly is getting bigger and heavier everyday. It is crazy how much change and strain my body is going through with this pregnancy. Yet I can still manage to take care of taro, do a bit of housework and take some time to myself to play with yarn and make socks. Miraculous! Soon the babies will be in my arms. There'll be new challenges but at least I'll have my body back and onto the road of recovery. I'll be taking a "maternity leave" from sock making but I will fulfill all my commitments before delivering the babies. Being on nostr has been really refreshing. Thank you to all you awesome people living your best lives and writing notes about it. Keep on! 🥳

I'm holding a very special, homegrown yarn. I bought it from a lady who raises her own sheep and angora goats. This blend of yarn is Rambouillet sheep wool and mohair. The wool provides the softness, comfort and warmth whereas the mohair provides the strength. Modern sock yarn uses nylon to provide strength but mohair is the original, natural option. I have enough to make 3 pairs of socks. They're different shades of natural, depending on the color of the coat of the sheep.
