Rome is the ultimate low time preference monument. The art, the architecture, the weight of history, it never gets old. As someone who deeply appreciates beauty, this city speaks to my soul. But it also makes me reflect. When did we stop building like this?? When did our architecture become so fiat? Disposable. Hollow. Optimized for short-term returns instead of legacy. Rome was built to last millennia. Fiat architecture is built to last loan terms.
