I have a good feeling that this is fake. They are using the cliche "grey alien", and the thing looks like it's made out of paper-mache. They claim to have done a DNA test on it and 30% of it is unknown, disregarding the fact that life out there might not even use DNA let alone have 70% of their DNA the same as life on Earth. The worst part is that anyone who can see through this psyop is going to be lumped in with flat-earthers.
I wonder if anyone has ever made a multiplayer video game that is played over packet radio. It would probably be something really simple like a turned based strategy game, but it would be an interesting project nonetheless.
This whole Tor/Gitcoin drama is the most retarded thing I've ever heard. "Oh no! The Tor project is using a crowd funding platform that uses crypto." For the love of God, if there is anything that crypto is useful for it's donating to things like open-source projects or Fediverse instances without relying on payment processors. Sure, a LOT of crypto/blockchain related things are scams, but it's still useful for things like this, and I personally think that Monero/XMR would be a better choice, but I don't know of any crowd funding platform that uses it (yet). This is what jumping on the "all crypto bad" bandwagon does to you. And if you are one of those people who believe that FOSS developers don't deserve any compensation for their work, even through voluntary donations, seriously fuck off! The only reason why these developers can work full-time (or at least work less at their day job) is through donations. Seriously, I'm sick of people acting like assholes when projects ask for donations. Your fediverse instance probably wouldn't be around or would be pay-walled or ad-filled if it weren't for donations. #Tor #TorProject #Gitcoin #Crypto #Web3 #Bitcoin #Monero
So I've read Post Civ by Strangers In a Tangled Wilderness. It seems interesting and could probably be better than Anti-Civ or primitivist ideologies (for those who don't know Post-Civ just wants to remove civilization but keep modern technology, unlike primitivists). I like how it's basically for the adventure minded person, and maybe we could be more self-reliant if we start creatively finding use for scrap and broken parts. But I'm still skeptical on how feasible it would be. It still seems like an ideology for someone who plays too many open-world games. I just wish that the writing wasn't short. They could've refuted common talking points from primitivists and anarchists who still want to preserve civilization but it doesn't. There also doesn't seem to be many other Post-Civ writings out there. And before any RWer calls me out for linking to an article on The Anarchist Library, Post-Civs reject leftist talking points.
