Why did editing my Nostr post create a new post... and where did all the comments go?" 🤔 Imagine you wrote a letter and mailed it to many different post offices (relays). A few hours later, you notice a typo. You can't open every mailbox and replace the original letter because it's already been delivered. So instead, you write a new corrected letter and send it out. That's essentially how Nostr works. When you "edit" a post, you're not changing the original post. A new post with a new ID is created, while the old one is usually marked for deletion or replaced by your client. Because the edited post has a different ID, it's treated as a completely new post. That's why: 💬 The original comments stay with the old post. ❤️ The reactions and zaps stay with the old post. 🔄 The edited version starts fresh with no comments or reactions. Think of it as publishing a new edition of a book. The reviews for the first edition don't automatically move to the new one. 📌 Tip: Before posting, take a few seconds to proofread. If your post already has lots of comments and reactions, editing it may mean starting over with a brand-new post. image

A warm welcome to our newest BCHNostr member! 🎉 As a new user, she didn't have enough BCH to verify her account. Good thing our community now has a crowdfunding fund to help newcomers get started. I was happy to use $1 from the fund to help her complete her verification. This is what community is all about—helping each other take that first step. 💚 Welcome! @Myca We hope you enjoy learning, connecting with everyone, and having a wonderful journey in the BCHNostr community. We're glad to have you with us! image

📚 Crypto Terminology: Pump vs. Dump 📈📉 Have you ever seen a coin suddenly shoot up... then crash just as fast? 📖 The Story Imagine a coin is trading at $100. Suddenly, many people start buying it. The price jumps to $120, then $140 in a short time. That's called a Pump—a rapid increase in price caused by strong buying activity. Now imagine some traders decide to sell their coins and take profits. The price quickly falls back to $110, then $90. That's called a Dump—a rapid drop in price caused by heavy selling. 🐋 Where do whales come in? Because whales own large amounts of cryptocurrency, their big buy or sell orders can sometimes help push prices up or down. But remember, not every pump or dump is caused by whales. News, market sentiment, or many traders buying and selling at the same time can also move the market. 💡 Lesson 📈 Pump = The price rises quickly. 📉 Dump = The price falls quickly. Don't chase every pump, and don't panic during every dump. Always have a plan and make decisions based on research—not emotions. ❓Have you ever bought during a pump or held through a dump? 💚 image

📌 I originally shared this on my first account, but since I now have a new account, I'm reposting it here so more people—especially those who are new to BCHNostr—can benefit from it. I hope this simple guide helps you better understand how relays work. 📮 Where can you find your "post offices" in BCHNostr? In my previous post, I learned that relays are like post offices. They're the places where your posts are sent, stored, and shared with other people. That got me thinking... "If relays are my post offices, where can I actually see them?" 🤔 The good news is they're easy to find in BCHNostr. Simply go to: Profile → Settings (edit profile) → Relays There you'll see the list of relays your account is connected to. Think of them as the post offices responsible for delivering your letters (posts) to the rest of the Nostr network. If you're connected to active, reliable relays, your posts have a much better chance of reaching more people. If you're connected to inactive or poorly connected relays, your post may only reach a few users—or in some cases, only you. 💡 Lesson: It's a good idea to check your relay list every once in a while. Healthy relays help your posts travel farther across the Nostr network.
