I haven’t watched legacy media in a long time. Thank you good sir for brightening my day with this comic relief. I haven’t laughed this hard in weeks 🤣🤣🤣

For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.

I often wonder, what is it about WhatsApp that's so sticky? Signal is a clone in practically every way, yet it can't seem to replace it. Is it really just the blue color? The hassle of creating a new collection of GIFs to send to friends that you already have in WhatsApp? Or is it the network effect causing habituation?
It seems that people are willing to trade off their concerns about privacy and centralized control for the minor convenience of using a single app. This is paradoxical, as many of these same individuals frequently complain about the controlling powers of Meta. Despite their concerns, they prioritize convenience over taking a stand for their values.
One possible explanation is that our brains struggle to connect with the consequences of our actions when they're abstract and invisible. The negative effects of surveillance capitalism, data exploitation, and online manipulation are often imperceptible, yet profound. They unfold in the shadows, making it difficult for us to emotionally grasp their impact.
Perhaps this is a result of our genetic makeup, which hasn't had time to adapt to the complexities of the digital age. Our brains are wired to respond to immediate, tangible threats, not the slow-burning, invisible risks that come with modern technology. As a result, we downplay the significance of these threats, prioritizing short-term convenience over long-term security and autonomy.
In essence, our brains are ill-equipped to handle the nuances of the digital world, leading us to perpetuate the very systems we claim to oppose. We're caught in a cycle of convenience and complacency, unable to fully grasp the consequences of our actions.
