Making money in startups is either really hard or really easy. All depends on what you are building and if people actually want it. The tool I’m building is probably in the former category 😂 No one cares about screen recordings. That’s why I also started an SEO tool.

I see people doing 100k/mo on 4 mo old startups … with vibe coding of course. Wild what’s possible.

There were 2 moments where I nearly quit working in design: 1. When I realized it’s all manipulation to get people to buy crap they most likely don’t need. 2. When I realized most websites can be just text. (This is before I got more into product design) I was thinking … here I am trying to influence people to buy stuff they don’t need while wasting years of their life (cumulatively) trying to make sense of whatever a designer thought was a good idea when all the visitor wanted was some info. What walked me back a bit was realizing that design can be used for good - to help people find what they’re looking for and to save time instead of spending it reading walls of text. The intersection of these contradictions is where you find most of the truly talented people - the ones who understand what it’s all about and the responsibility they hold in their hands. But, I still think about every second I’ve made someone look at what I made, instead of what they could have done with that time…

Since coming to nostr I’ve shifted away from most branded self care products and have taken interest in formulating my own with simple ingredients. I’d rather not put a ton of chemicals in myself. Oddly enough people around me are thinking I’m weird for being this way 😂 I guess I’m slowly turning into a hippy 🤣

One thing in particular that I like about nostr is all the people selling stuff for bitcoin. Their hustle is relentless and admirable.

Signals that your websites are slop: - weird gradients all over - background circle gradients - slop images - good slop images that are still slop - images with text over them (nano banana) - generic tailwind css (ChatGPT 5.5) - all caps titles - spaced out (ChatGPT 5.5) - lucid icon set - white borders on dark mode - super verbose tried to explain everything - a label for labels for labels - no images all text - generic 3 / 6 card feature sections - too many colors - emojis all over the damn place - color gradient borders all over the place - particles effects - cross grid background pattern - same shadcn ui look with Geist font or Geist mono. This is the new tailwind trend. - overuse of shadows - a small heading over the large heading in every section - no motion or interaction of any kind just the same generic scroll - inconsistency in color usage from section to section Did I miss anything?
