I guess the reason for more medical device regulation in the US is partly due to this more predatory 'suing culture' I think I have never in my life seen such an advertisement in Germany .. and in the US, they are everywhere image

It appears getting medical approval for a product in the US is even harder than in Germany .. a bit of a bummer for me .. I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA?!? Every orthotics facility I approach immediately asks for FDA approval (510k clearance) .. was aware of that but was hoping that people on the ground would be more like 'yeah blud, that s the official stuff .. but ain't nobody really does that 😅' .. but no .. Murica very strict in regards to medical device approval

Grabbed a coffee at BK and noticed again how happy and friendly Muricans are. I was explaining that I want a plain black coffee, as one of these '7.000 kcal pumpkin spice latte ice cream coffees' would probably straight up end my fragile little European body. And she said "I got u honey, and have a nice and prosperous day, beautiful" 🥰 .. have never been called beautiful at a BK in Germany 😪 image

Fort Myers appears to be mostly parking lots .. also highways, fast food chains, and these classic one-story bungalow single-family homes in between .. but mostly parking lots.

I thought there would be far more Mosquitos in Florida.

Still a bit jetlagged and woke up at 3 am today. Went for a short walk in my Miami neighbourhood and think it's crazy how it doesn't really cool off at night. Temperatures only drop by a few degrees .. so different to Germany. image

Today I was writing a job application mail in a park in Miami and this dude sat down close to me. After some time he asks me whether I'd be ok with him smoking one. Of course. He saw my insta360 and asked whether I'm a famous content creator .. unfortunately not. So we started talking about Florida, the US and Germany and it got to the topic of gun ownership .. obviously a politically charged topic. He said that he thinks it's good that every adult should have easy access to firearms. So I asked him whether that is a controversial opinion in Florida. And he said 'No'. He said the majority of people think this is normal and how it should be .. and I find this cultural difference so interesting, as 99% of Germans would find this opinion to be completely insane.

My first time visiting the US. Gonna stay in Florida for 5 weeks but I'm not really feeling joyful excitement as I did with my last vacation. It's more of an inner tension, as it's more serious this time. It's about starting a business, finding a job and probably leaving Germany. image

AI is clearly a pretty powerful tool that can increase bureau job's productivity enormously. Sth like a digital harvester, where 1 person in such a tool can create the work output of dozens to hundreds doing 'manual' labor. This obviously causes deflationary pressure. The sad thing is, that in our current fiat monetary system these technology induced productivity gainzz won't fully go into increasing everyones living standards but rather give money printing leeway for those controlling the money printer. Surely, the stewards of the 'money garden hose' try their best to allocate that fresh money efficiently and to the best of society. But it seems obvious that this is an insurmountable task. Having everyone individually use their 'newfound' wealth as they seem fit seems superior. Seems like the world is in need of a hard capped neutral reserve currency .. and I wonder what that could be. #Bitcoin image

Currently building a shopify store for my cranial remolding orthosis and gotta admit, ChatGPT is pretty amazing. Had never heard of liquid & don't know HTML or Java Script. But this thing is like a very sophisticated privat customer support. Capable of coding etc .. pretty epic image

I think additive manufacturing is still overhyped (even though much less than 10 years ago). But for applications where high geometrical complexity AND low quantities are required .. it's the undisputed king. image

For my engineering master thesis I developed this super light additively manufactured orthosis for treating head deformities of children. It's customized and (from what I can tell so far) has superior fit to the established products. Pretty epic stuff in my humble opinion 🥰

Next month I'll visit the #USA for the first time in my life. Over the next few years I'll try making it my new center of life. My expectations are high and from what I can tell so far, it probably is the greatest country humanity has ever 'created'. Maybe I'll be disappointed and return to my pretty little north east Germany completely disillusioned. Let's see. The last 8 years I've been living in Rostock, a 200k city at the baltic sea, and regardless of how I'll actually like the USA .. Rostock is absolutely beautiful and puts the bar dang high. image

Couple weeks ago I clicked on some XRP tweet and since then I'm getting shown that stuff occasionally .. and admittedly I keep checking them out. It's a bit like some weird / irritating scene were u just can't look away. I mean .. I can't comprehend how anyone can hold XRP bags with conviction for years. Your speculation thesis is that central banks will buy your premined highly centralized coin to facilitate payments across different CBDCs, right? Unless you're new to cRyPTo, how can u believe in that stuff with conviction? And that's coming from someone that bought Substratum for 1,1$ in late 2017, kept 'buying the dip' and then sold it for sth like 0,1$. image

My little brother has (finally) started falling down the #Bitcoin rabbit hole. Hereby, his shock and especially his sense of urgency very much remind me of how I felt a few years ago. Along the last few months he FOMOd most his few available cash savings into #Bitcoin, as he thought 'price-eruption-lambo-time' is imminent .. afterall, now that he had (somewhat) figured out that juicy BTC is the best form of money humanity has ever touched, he is expecting the rest of the world to understand now too lol. Reminds me of how I dumped my Paypal shares in 2018, because as I started to understand what Bitcoin is, I was convinced that everyone would figure it out, adapt Bitcoin, and fiat payment providers such as Paypal would be obliterated in a matter of months .. well .. that was very much a misjudgement. But I think this sense of urgency is a quite common reaction .. and whilst u sit there in shock like "any second now people r gonna realize the stupidity & arbitrariness of a 2% inflation target" .. the majority of people DGAF lel.

I think Germans develop vastly above average levels of stress when it comes to getting on and off trains.
