It's beyond me why Zcash is not regarded as a complete shitcoin. Here's the first reason Zooko states for why Zcash will switch to Hybrid Proof-of-Stake: "It reduces supply of ZEC by locking up staked ZEC and increases demand for ZEC by giving people something else to do with it." Not enough demand for "money"? People have no idea what to do with their "money"? Let's lock it up and reward investors with dividends! Now imagine someone looking at this chart, even adding it to their own blog post, and then linking said post with the comment "Zcash is winning": Am I thinking about this the wrong way perhaps? What am I missing about this amazing currency?

What's up with all the seemingly generated comments and profiles that are faking engagement at YakiHonne? Not a good look.

Initially, I didn't want to spend the whole Sunday on this, but it's basically almost done now. I started building a nice server-side renderer for long-form content on our Nostr relay: The next step is to create human-readable URLs, i.e. `/@username/article-id`. But my favorite feature will be `/@username/articles.rss`, because if it doesn't have an RSS feed, it's not a blog.

Fun fact from #hcpp24: I asked one of the crew how many payments during the conference she would estimate have been done via #LightningNetwork vs #Monero. She said about 30% XMR, but that she wished everyone used Lightning, because of how slow the Monero payments are. Point of Sale is just bad UX for anything taking longer than a few seconds. Only really committed merchants will tolerate that, and even then it's rough for them.

A friend of mine is recording a Ripple/finance event in Switzerland right now, where a woman from Bhutan is schooling the whole room on bitcoin, and she's saying that her government is literally trying to on-board every single citizen to it. Furthermore, apparently BTC is already the effective reserve currency of the country, and they're using it for Forex trading of their own currency as well.

Should paid relays accept zap receipts, if the pubkey that signed the contained zap request is on the allowlist to post? I think it would make sense. There is no way to control user devices and the software they run for any of our open protocols, so there's simply no way for server providers to scan E2EE content transmitted via their services. Let them cripple WhatsApp and Signal. Why do you care so much?
