Early in my wife & I’s relationship I realized that if I just set a monthly calendar reminder, I wouldn’t be surprised by the oncoming firestorm. At work, I have done the same: board of directors meetings, quarterly reporting, end of month goals — all inciting moody & irritable behavior. Cycle-hacking at company level. Plan accordingly.

They could pick any other day, but they pick Easter. There’s no need to get emotional if you recognize the obvious.

My XRP-holding neighbor came over to talk about bitcoin last night. Lord, grant me the strength to execute a shitcoiner conversion.

Predictive text doesn’t work so well when you type fast. I turned it off. I learned to type reasonably fast in order to get ideas down. For a carefully crafted business email, where trite turns of phrase and corporate vocabulary are needed, it works okay. But during inspiration, I can’t think of it as anything but a hindrance. Like a little man sitting on your shoulder, whispering the wrong words into your ear.

It is cold today. My son and I took the dog for a walk on the trail. We spent our time throwing chunks of snow on the large frozen puddles and streams, splintering and making holes. Then I taught him how to walk/run across ice that’s going to break, which would soak his boots. Finally I turned us around before we got too cold, our hands and jackets wet from picking up and throwing snow boulders. There is no substitute.

In California, a free McDonald’s coffee bought with points costs $0.25 because the county charges you for a non-disposable cup. A tree 6” wide cut down on your own property can cost up to $22,000 in fines. To avoid the fines, you need a permit, an approved plan to replace the tree, and an inspector. Meanwhile, the people I talked to denigrated pretty much everywhere else in the U.S. They fiddle while it burns.
