Saw @Murmur 's profile. Stealing the first line. Loved it. "Strong opinions loosely held"

I’m not bashing on choosing a hosting company for your podcast or music. In the About for my app that walks you through the benefits of hosting your own, I acknowledge it’s not for everyone and even provide links to my “competition”. I’m not competing with anyone. My stuff is truly v4v you are free to remove me from the split ( but I will call you a douchebag ). I don’t care who you use, I just want you to know you have options so you can make the choice that’s best for you.

Man, all of this Alby hate is so weird to me. Nobody wants to run their own node, because it's apparently too hard. So Alby runs one for two years, gives away wallets for free, then builds all of these tools FOR FREE that simplify running your own node. Then they say they're not going to run nodes anymore, but here's all these free tools you can use to do it yourself, and everyone shits on them and calls them rug pullers for not giving away even more of their time, talent, and treasure. How much code have you contributed to them? How many sats have any of you people bitching about them moving away from holding your keys ever given them? They provided you two years of value, how much have you provided back? v4v is a voluntary exchange, and either party can choose to change the value they provide at any time. Nobody owes you anything, least of all Alby who have been nothing but generous to all of us.

Maybe I'm jaded. I've been around long enough to have been my own top 8 on MySpace. I had a Facebook back when Mark was using it so he could get laid and when Twitter was just to share short messages with friends. So I've heard the story of the scrappy young team of developers that are going to change the world with their new ideas. And then the investors come in, and the new users, and the money, and somehow this thing morphs into another behemoth that controls far too much. Meet the new boss, same as the old. So, I'm a bit hesitant to trust a new platform that promises to unlock the potential of human creativity by giving a million creative artists the opportunity to live off their art and billions of fans the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by it; revolutionizing music listening forever and moving into podcasting to bring innovation and a new generation of listeners to the medium.

Did you know you can start your own record label? @boo-bury did with ThunderRoad Media. Know how to host files and build a feed? You can do it for the bands you love. They can focus on their music, you can manage their feed. It’s another form of v4v, where you’re trading your unique skill sets to create something greater than the sum of it’s parts.

I keep hearing we need to build apps for the 99%. Nah, I’m good. I like building for the 1%. You guys are way more fun and interesting. I like being a one percenter.
