Uncompromising thoughts on freedom, philosophy, and building a life outside the system. Bitcoin, sovereignty, and the pursuit of truth.
Almost no one in the broader world knows about the #crypto apostles. (My term, not one they apply to themselves.) Even rather few in the larger crypto community know much about them. So I’m not talking about famous names, but quiet people. I’ve decided to tell you about them with some hesitation. #plebchain #followforfollow #bitcoin #cryptocurrency image
There is real beauty in doing a job well, even a simple job. It is our great loss that this form of beauty is never mentioned in public these days – double-sad, because at one time, such beauty was acknowledged. This brings us to an obvious question: What happened? How did we lose the beauty and dignity of work? #followforfollow #plebchain #dignity #workethic image
People very often expect authorities to possess superior information. After all, the assumptions of the 20th century were that those at the top of large systems have information the rest of us don’t, and that they make better decisions because of it. This was the lesson of the factory, the military and government. In all cases, those at the top were believed to have the best information. In actual practice, however, those at the top don’t get the best information. #plebchain #followforfollow #blog image
I hear the same complaints about politicians that you do. And while I understand them, the fact is that complaining accomplishes almost nothing. And there is a very simple reason why complaining has no real effect: Because the complainers keep right on obeying. As long as you obey, the things you complain about will keep on happening. #plebchain #followforfollow #independenceday #4thofjuly image https://freemansperspective.com/nothing-changes-as-long-as-you-obey/
The thought that something like “the right to a secure retirement” could destroy us seems a little crazy at first. Who, after all, opposes old people living comfortably? Nonetheless, many rights do destroy, and it recently struck me that I had never seen a clear and dispassionate explanation of why. And so I’ll rectify that. #plebchain #followforfollow #rights image
Eras change as their illusions burn out, and a lot of illusions are presently on fire. Millions of decent people – reliable friends and neighbors – have been pushed and pulled into a situation where they are facing the hard death of their dreams. Back in the 1960s it was common to say “Tune in, turn on, drop out,” and plenty of young people did. Now it looks like the phrase may run in reverse: Drop Out, Tune In, Turn On. #plebchain #followforfollow #burnout #era image https://freemansperspective.com/dropping-out-of-dreams/
Due to the number of questions I’ve received about Jesus, I think a podcast devoted to him is in order. People addressing this material, from whatever angle, tend to have fiercely held opinions, cherry-picking facts around them. That makes these discussions very difficult, and I’ll do my best to avoid that trap. This is a fascinating subject, and removing dogmatic opinions is what opens it to us. #plebchain #followforfollow #religion #podcast image https://freemansperspective.com/was-there-a-real-jesus-and-if-so-what-did-he-really-say/
Last week we examined the “social contract” in some depth, to see if it passes as a legal concept. This week we’ll examine two follow-up issues: one that I didn’t mention and one that I mentioned, but didn’t delve into. #plebchain #followforfollow #socialcontract image
So, you’re printing up six trillion dollars, giving 7/8ths to banks and corporations and 1/8th back to us… which we’ll be taxed on… plus, all that money creates a monster deficit that our children be expected to pay back anyway? The honest answer, if it were ever given, would be “yes.” And for this we’re expected to thank them! #followforfollow #plebchain #taxation image https://freemansperspective.com/free-money-doesnt-fix-broken-processes/
The social contract is a description of “the origin of society and the legitimacy of the authority of the state over the individual.” The social contract asserts that all of us have consented to surrender some of our rights to a ruling group, in exchange for the protection of our remaining rights. The question I’ll address today is whether this is a legitimate contract. #plebchain #followforfollow #socialcontract #draft image
Imagine a pretty spring day. You’re standing on your front porch or some other pleasant vantage point and looking out at a sunlit landscape: trees, grass, and singing birds. Then your five-year-old child or grandchild walks up to you and tugs on your hand to get your attention. You turn and the child asks, “What kind of world is this?” What do you reply? #plebchain #followforfollow #philosophy image
Lord Acton wrote that power tends to corrupt, but I’m going to say flat out that it does corrupt. I’ll go further and say that it’s an addiction (probably every bit as bad as cocaine), and that the lust for control is one of its primary drivers. #plebchain #followforfollow #corrupt #blog image
Humans are not naturally stupid. They are not naturally bad. Fear, however, distorts them, weakens them, and makes them far less effective than they’d naturally be. Fear, in its many guises, is the great enemy of mankind, and it’s time that we addressed it head on. #plebchain #followforfollow #blog image
