Now you belong to that love. You live from that love. You give what you’ve received — not perfectly, but faithfully. Because the one who loves you doesn’t keep score. He doesn’t measure your worth. He gives Himself to you over and over — in preaching, in baptism, in the Supper — until His love fills every empty space in your heart. That’s how you learn to love your neighbor — not by trying harder, but by being filled with Christ. You can’t give what you don’t have. You can’t love from emptiness. But Christ gives you Himself — His body, His blood, His forgiveness, His Spirit — so that His love becomes yours. View article →

"According to the IMF, global currency reserves are at $7.1 trillion and $2.5 trillion euros now. These reserves are devalued at an annual rate of about 8 percent. Moreover, they can be confiscated or stolen any time if the United States dislikes something in the policy of the states involved.... According to analysts' estimates, conversion of global reserves will begin just because there is no room for them with such shortages. They will be converted from weakening currencies into real resources like food, energy commodities, and other raw materials. Other countries will be doing this, of course. Obviously, this process will further fuel global dollar inflation." June 17th, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Because the truth endures when the world forgets. The Word stands firm when everything else falls. And the glory of God — the crucified, risen, forgiving Jesus — is still shining, still calling, still healing, still saving. So look to Him. Not to the crowd. Not to the opinions of others. Look to the One Isaiah saw, the One lifted up for your salvation. Look to His cross, His wounds, His mercy. That’s the glory that matters. That’s the glory that lasts. View article →

Everyone had their Bitcoin moment. For me, it was when I was deep into virology and politics, and then congressman Crenshaw started talking. Sagar’s commentary was as dumb as Crenshaw.

The Congress investigates, the Executive Office issues and enforces orders, and the Court legislates. And the citizens consent. Broken system.

Met with the CFO of a large foundation with nearly $2 billion in management. Acknowledged gold is on a tear and Bitcoin has an impressive CAGR. But they’re not going to stick with equities and bonds because they’ve performed mostly well since the foundation’s founding in 1959. I said, “why not allocate 1% as a hedge?” No, he says, “I’m an old school optimist.” We’re still early.

And hear this clearly: You don’t have to make a name for yourself. You don’t have to build your own reputation. You don’t have to chase affirmation. You don’t need to be the big-name Christian or congregation. Because you already have a name—given to you in baptism. You already have a seat—set by grace. You already have honor—because Christ has called you “friend.” View article →

The Christian defends against the distortion, redefinition, and misuse of words for the sake of the Truth, Jesus, who is communicated through words. When words no longer matter, you will conform the Word of Scripture to your own image... not you be conformed to the image of the Son, Jesus.

The cost of living had begun to spiral out of control. What was to be done? Casting around, people found a life raft: shares. Every day the entire population studied the stock market listings. Sometimes some shares collapsed and thousands of people hurtled toward the abyss. In every shop, every factory, every school, share tips were whispered in one’s ear. -1923 Germany in the book Defying Hitler by Sebastian Haffner
