Follow up from previous note, after agreeing that I should not invest more than 10% of my net assets over the next 12 months 🙄 there was a quiz of about 9 questions to pass in order to continue, this will become standard practice for all exchanges operating in the UK with a final deadline of 8th January. Questions varied a bit around rules exchanges follow in the UK, protection against losses, volatility, stable coins and even shitcoins. According to the FCA handbook and proposals users will see different questions each time as they are pulled from a pool of questions. The on-ramp has now become so much steeper for new investors, I think these new changes will severly hinder new investors getting in and stunt growth in the UK. Consumers will also need to be reassessed every 12 months. Honestly not sure how to feel with this, we know the risks, all of this seems overly excessive. #bitcoin #fca #uk #globalhub

🚩New UK rules from the FCA are going to make it next to impossible for anyone to accumulate a substantial amount of #bitcoin Most of us will fall into the “restricted investor” category limiting us to no more than 10% of our assets (excluding home if primary residence and pension) being invested. I was honest, stated I’ve invested ~20% net assets in the last 12 months but I agreed to invest no more than 10% in the next 12 months yet still failed the assessment 🤷🏻‍♂️ according to their handbook I now have one more shot at this before being locked out for 24 hours before being able to try again with slightly bent answers 🫠 You would need to have £340,000 in savings/stocks right now and not invested anything in the last 12 months to be able to buy 1BTC today.

My biggest FOMO is knowing I won’t be around to witness the final block reward be mined #bitcoin

🫂 In my last update shared almost 3 months ago I mentioned a challenging period when a wave of redundancies affected both myself and many close friends. Its been difficult navigating the minefield of the hiring process that seems to be the norm now compared to the past, it’s been a stressful time but I’m now fortunate enough to say that I have secured a new position and I can begin to stress less and live more. Employment aside and looking back now, the hardest pill to swallow over the last 3 months was the need to use my emergency fund to get by and not have the means to accumulate more BTC. I’m now looking forward to being able to top up the spent rainy day funds so that I can get back to stacking sats in the new year. The good news from all of this is I didn’t need to loose any BTC during this time to survive 🤙

The last few weeks have been very tough, I inherited a clients project that was long overdue and worked day and night for the last 3 weeks to get the features they wanted implemented and the project across the line. This has meant I’ve had no time, motivation or energy to work on my own Nostr side projects after work 🥺 I managed to get this project completed yesterday with a release in their hands they can be happy with just in time for my birthday off today. I’m now having a short break, heading out for food/drinks today and will be switching off from work for the next 3 days. Hopefully Monday comes and my mind and body will be in far better shape so that I feel up for working on my side projects in the evenings again. Have a great weekend all 🫂💜

<rant> PWA on iOS are so far behind Android, it’s unbelievable. Add to home-screen flow for a start, I actually wonder if the majority of iOS users even know it exists or is it just something developers know about 🤔 Android has the ability to check if the user has already “installed” the PWA and if not you can prompt them to do so without the awkward add to home-screen dance. Once added to home-screen, clicking a link in any other application (notes/messages/email) iOS doesn’t recognise you have added the site to the home-screen so it proceeds to open in the browser rather than full screen/standalone view you would get when opening the home-screen shortcut directly, I believe this is not the case on Android. Final straw, turns out any Safari extensions a user may have enabled will not work when launching your site from a home-screen shortcut, making it impossible to use nostore in a PWA </rant>
