Number 2 Son’s 29th bday dinner he requested Scotch Eggs and Cuban Sandwiches: I’ve made neither before… challenge accepted. And he’s not a cake fan so I make him cinnamon buns instead.

Just came across this…. Just wow… and now a Big Mac combo “deal” at Macdonalds costs $11.20 NZD 😳 The cost of lean ground beef is currently $30.00 NZD 😲 if this doesn’t scream inflation and debasement, nothing else will!

I LOVE cooking on the fire. Fine weather and weekends see me trying new things to cook on the fire… you win some and lose some! The win this weekend was chicken gyros… cooking the homemade wraps in the fire was super satisfyingg. The “lose” was the upside down apple cake in the Dutch oven. I’ll try again, but the fire was too hot, the sugar burned, the apples all but disappeared! Mmmmmm Sunday

GN. Long weekend here, and lovely Firepit weather… in the absence of proper s’mores ingredients we use dark chocolate digestive biscuits and sub par NZ marshmallows… but it’s still yum. 😋

We use quite a bit of dill in our household and it’s very satisfying to grow it! I have a tiny kitchen garden with 5 dill plants and the dehydrator is full! I’m harvesting in such a way that the plant keeps growing. It will be interesting to see how much we get at the end of the season.
