Coffee is hot. Yesterday flew by, busy with some big tasks at work, orchestrating some updates to my latest favorite open source project, and taking care of the family.
Today we continue onward towards our goals 🤙

Another PR for Onyx inbound. Some small, but rather complex editor improvements for wikilinks, url links, foldable headings, reader mode and more

Wife made biscuits and gravy.
A few chores this morning before I head out to fish my favorite river.
War is hell. Grateful for the peace I have, even if just for today.

I’m firmly in the Industrial Renaissance camp. The same facts that make the bear case scary make the bull case exhilarating once you assume humans do what humans do best: adapt, create, and demand more.
Build the change you want to see in the world.
That's it.
I can't take it any longer.
I see the warning signs.
I've had enough.
I'm buying more.

Slow and quiet morning here. Embracing these as they are quickly becoming a scarcity. Wife's baby bump is showing quite a bit. I've still got to sand and finish the wood floors of the nursery, paint the room, and furnish it to comfort. The window of time to finish preparing for our first child is growing smaller as I write this, but for now, a slow morning and sunrise with coffee in hand.
Today is another milestone in my journey of faith. Rite of Sending and Rite of Election today for the diocese. It marks (to my knowledge) the largest number of conversions and/or upcoming baptisms for both my area and my parish. God is good. The people (like me) crave deeper meaning, a life lived with purpose, and some things unchanging in this chaotic era.
I find a certain comfort in knowing I've got a clear vocation as a husband, and father. Riding the wave of faith, willing and ready to give my best and my all.
Have a great day Nostr - I expect everything is there for us if we allow it.
I added custom provider settings and chat pane to Onyx. Makes it quick and easy to add MapleAI local proxy or local Ollama.
Encrypted notes with nostr key sync + encrypted or local LLM chats. You can just do things I guess.

Okay I believe the hype. I woke up one random day, and it is the future.
It is now.
I just went from `beginner` knowledge of Git/Node/Rust to my first shipped PR in one session.

More work today. It looks to be an amazing day of weather again. Preparing our BNB tonight for a guest tomorrow.
On the side, I've got Onyx installed on my other machine and integrated with my OpenClaw. It proves to be a much easier way to integrate Maple AI into Onyx, since I already have my Claw set to use those models and API (no need to have the local proxy running in this case). But still cool to integrate it directly without the need of the claw. Testing continues.
Go in peace today!
Local-first markdown notes with Nostr-based encrypted sync, and AI inference running within Trusted Execution Environments.
I officially have Onyx AI assistant running through @Maple via local proxy. Pretty stoked. Would love to see this integration come together in the native UI.
May take some time to write up the steps I took to get this working. I'll test drive it for a few days.

Thinking about this recognizable quote this morning:
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” — J.R.R. Tolkien (The Fellowship of the Ring)
If I had a significant amount of free time, I'd surely get into crafting stained glass, mending and recovering old books, and walking gardens. But today, I don't. So I work on the tasks in front of me, content with my wages.
It's inspirational seeing what you all are building day in and out. Seeing your GMs. Your humor and your frustrations alike. I sometimes wish I was half as smart or brilliant as some of you here. But I'm reminded that I just need to keep being me.
Hope you all have a good day; this great adventure resumes the moment your feet hit the floor - even though often it may be dangerous business.. "going out your door. You step onto the Road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
Just when I was about to pump the brakes on digital not taking, @Derek Ross comes through and builds an open source Obsidian replacement on nostr...

It feels like with the advent of this AI virality, I feel encouraged to stick to my analogue roots. Writing in a physical bullet journal, reading physical books, and long, focused windows of time in silence.
Today is Monday the 16th of Feb. My first Lent coming this Wednesday with ashes as I continue conversion towards my confirmation. I wasn't sure if I would stick this journey out at first; the more I learn, the more I pray, the more questions I ask, its become quite clear the this is the right journey to be on. Blessed be God forever.
A few larger projects at work this week as we overhaul our D2C site structure. I'm wrapping up some analytics reports (we had a pretty solid 2025, so that's motivating), and strategizing methods for aligning content and content updates across our various channels.
It's going to be a beautiful day. I'm grateful to say the least.
