Farm update: It's not all sunshine and fruit. Owning cattle is simultaneously one of the greatest and worst feelings at times. Today we had to rope a bull and treat him for a wound which was caused by aggressive dogs chasing the cattle around the pasture. One bull tripped and fell down an embankment which caused a gash on his head by his ear. The blood attracted flies and bats which have exacerbated the problem. I feel so bad for him, poor guy is clearly bothered. Luckily, I have some great guys who were able to clean it and they'll keep an eye on him while I'm away. You think about grazing cattle as being calm, in sunny, green grass, and drinking crystal clear spring water from the stream, but the harsh reality is sometimes, you have to forcibly put them into submission and do what's best for them even if they resist and it causes them pain and discomfort.
