Would you rather have the trait of invisibility or insensibility, or both, or neither, and why? 🏡 Not here to argue with the infinite opinions. Not here to “build an audience”, but to literally use this for “notes and other stuff” (maybe I’m here to rebuild my sense of self … after a bunch of changes, experienced as traumatic) ❤️‍🩹💝 ✏️ I would like these to not exist: - poverty - pollution in LCOL areas - factory farms, slaughterhouses - war

#bullying #onlinebullying (1 of 2) Tuesday. Harassment incident on a busy road. Posted about it to r/ [local region subreddit]. 3 reasons for doing so: 1. To slow down my desire to report to police 2. To point out this busy neighborhood street and have public awareness about the guy 3. To be like, yea, if there are @$$holes, let’s photograph and post them here 3 days later (Friday), I read the responses. They were mostly mean and bullying. I got really angry. It somewhat disturbed my sleep. I woke up the next morning feeling slightly sick, and still thinking about it. It got worse each time I went out into the neighborhood. I felt depressed and alone. Came back home and discussed with GPT. The complex situation was analyzed and articulated and I instantly felt much better.

#bullying #onlinebullying (2 of 2) I had been taking a break from Nostr since Tuesday. Decided to browse it. The contrast between that and r/ [local region subreddit] made me realize *how* Nostr as a social media app is different from Reddit. It’s better for dealing with bullies, but also, currently at least, it doesn’t seem to *attract* bullies. In contrast, it seems to attract people who value not bullying. Based on Chat GPT’s summary, certain subreddits (i.e., local neighborhood ones) actually attract and empower bullies. (Or maybe, bullies see how they can be empowered and are attracted to it?) So I guess this is a positive outcome of this painful, emotional rollercoaster of an experience. Understanding the difference between these two social media platforms. Previously, I had been thinking that the two are very similar … just that the one has a decentralization, free speech, and bitcoin emphasis.

Hm. Something that has come up - bullying, harassment. In real life, and on social media (Reddit). I think this is important to think about because … Bullying in another context, is harassment. And harassment in another context & at a different scale, is oppression from the State, or an institution. So the options for dealing with bullying in real life and on social media is very important. First books and TV shows #聪明的一休 smart, clever Yi Xiu (a monk in training whose mom died) #三毛 3 hairs (a homeless boy who was an orphan) These were the first cartoon and comic books I was exposed to in China. Also a Chinese comic book of The Smurfs which I memorized. Then, I got to the U.S., and it was Barney the dinosaur on a small black and white TV that we probably got for free. It was cool when we got a color TV and I could see the purple and green colors of Barney.

I went on a ‘princess’ theme in my viewing choices, after finishing Amphibia. I really liked how in the live-action Snow White, the story was changed to have a play on words on the word ‘fair’. Instead of just ‘who is the fairest one of all?’ it became, who can be the leader who is fair to everyone? And that was Snow White and her friends and supporters. And her name is because she was born during a blizzard and survived. I also learned from watching ‘Into the Unknown: The Making of Frozen II’ that the song “Show Yourself” was really hard to write. I was shocked. This was totally unexpected. That song was so … cohesive, such a good fit, that I kinda imagined some wise old people steeped in story structure just came up with it naturally and effortlessly. Nope. They almost gave up on it, it was so hard to create.

😡 ‘She’s nice country. But she was stole a long time ago,’ a man tells Pa and Tom and Uncle John as they bathe in the Colorado River. In the 1930s, and today, most California farming is corporate farming, muscular and ever expanding, as dependent on migrant labor today as it has been for over a century.” - On Reading The Grapes of Wrath, Chapter 13, The Salinas Lettuce Strike, 1936 “The ‘shipper-growers of California,’ said Carey McWilliams, author of Factories in the Field (1939), a sociological study of migrant labor that came out shortly after Steinbeck’s novel, ‘the men who own, control, and direct the state’s fantastically rich produce industry, are a strange breed, one that must be studied at close range over a period of years to be fully appreciated. It is a breed long addicted to violence . . . in the area of labor relations they are spoiled, stupid, and arrogant.’ Steinbeck had a story about a grower he met in the late 1930s, John saying to him: ‘you keep calling them communists. What do you mean?’ ‘I mean any son-of-a-bitch who wants 30 cents an hour when I’m willing to pay him two bits.’ #bookstr #reading #theGrapesofWrath image

The next time I’m out on a dog walk and Joey is in the mood to sit and lounge for a very long time, I’m going to try listening to a familiar podcast. I got into podcasts very gradually, earlier this year. I used to think I wasn’t into podcasts, cuz, who has time for that? Listening to a long, rambling radio talk show filled with minutiae, is what I thought of it. ⋆.˚ 𓆉 getting into podcasts . . . ⋆.˚ 𓇼 Reclaiming by Monica Lewinsky 𓇼 Ocean Vuong on Oprah’s Book Club and NPR Fresh Air 𓇼 Taylor Swift on her boyfriend’s brother’s podcast 𓇼 Good Hang w/ Amy Poehler 𓇼 Las Culturistas w/ Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers 𓇼 On Purpose (mental health) w/ Jay Shetty and guest, Emma Watson And now back to Reclaiming, with Monica Lewinsky and guest Margaret Cho.

… still slowly working on the May & June page. The theme is pleasant surprises / unexpected discoveries. My partner found this on a walk because of the scent. When you put a small sprig in a room … it’s really nice. It smells like perfume, but natural. Needless to say, this type of flower — where a lot of little ones make up the whole thing — is really hard to draw. Especially the one where the flowers have opened. 😵‍💫 #artstr #artlist #plantstr image View quoted note →
