got an idea. actually 2 ideas. a plastic heart shaped Driscoll’s (non-organic 😱) strawberry container. trying to grow some of the sprouts just as plants. let’s see how it goes …
trying out putting the sprouts in a sunnier spot with the rest of the plants, as opposed to in the kitchen where it’s less sunny. They are food but they are also plants. 🌱 image
the little Ivy plant grew first one, then two extra large leaves at the tip. It seems to be doing better? Maybe the two big leaves will absorb more sun which will help the rest of the plant. 🪴 Photosynthesis! image
#coffeechain do not be alarmed by this ridiculously full cup of coffee. there is a lot of soymilk in there. image
well first of all, this video clip feels like a miracle. Listening, I’m like crying. and then, Ronnie Chieng goes, “we get it. you found Buddha.” and now I’m laughing.
It’s necessary to put the Bill of Rights, or human/animal rights into words, written down. The problem is when some people think these rights come from ‘the law’ rather than the law coming from the rights. View quoted note →
“Just continue in your calm, ordinary practice and your character will be built up. … You know your way and your state of heart. Do not carry too much! … On the other hand it may seem as if I’m speaking about gradual attainment. This is not so either. In fact, this is the sudden way, because when your practice is calm and ordinary, everyday life itself is enlightenment.” - Zen and excitement featuring a green Peridot sticker (from Steven Universe). I started reading Peridot’s wiki page and it is shockingly long. Was taking screen shots of good quotes and realized, ok I can’t just keep taking screenshots because then I’d have a book on my phone. Reading the wiki page feels like reading literature.
hm TIL or rather, YIL (yesterday I learned), that the chinese character for ‘talk’ has the two parts - the left part, the radical (字旁), I always knew about 讠 speech, words but I just found out the right part has to do with money. 兑 cash, exchange, barter wow. It’s such a commonly and often used word. People are always using it like, ‘I said to him …. they said … etc.’ eh I just find this very interesting. image
song lyrics from movies (Crazy Rich Asians, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1)
inspired by … the Growing Up music video by The Linda Lindas. first posted 3 years ago … and which I have just watched for the first time. There is eyeshadow that is drawn to look like a sleeping cat. *breathe* image
I tried out doing a drawing with NO planning. Haven’t done that in a long while. Feels like it’s only been reference drawings. I used to *never* draw from reference . . . then through the process of getting my 2nd BA, going to graduate school, and then working with kids at my first ‘salaried’ job, I realized that I could draw from reference, like, pretty much - exactly - At the elementary school one year, a new thing was that teachers could come up with an ‘enrichment club’, and I came up with “Cartoon and Anime club”. This was done remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. So, in the process of showing the kids how to draw from a reference, I discovered I could draw characters from My Hero Academia or Little Witch Academia or Pokemon pretty much to exactly look like the reference. This was a surprise. So drawing this with no planning felt strange … I still had to kind of plan as I went, and try to fix mistakes or problems as they came up. I think the main issue is, this paper has too coarse of a texture. I think colored pencils would work better on finer-grain paper, like the ones from dollar store sketchbooks. image
