In Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) final sermon he strongly emphasized the sanctity of private property alongside life and honor.
He declared that a person’s property is inalienable.
He explicitly forbade taking anything from another person without their full and willing consent, meaning theft, coercion, and exploitation were all prohibited.
The message established a clear principle: people’s property rights must be respected and protected as a core part of justice and social order.
Interesting fun fact:
When Muhammad (peace be upon him) emigrated to Medina circa 622 AD, he created a new political system centered on the Constitution of Medina, a written agreement uniting Muslims, Jewish tribes, and other groups into a single community while allowing each to maintain its own religion and legal practices. The system emphasized mutual defense, shared responsibility, and rule-based conflict resolution, making it one of the earliest examples of pluralistic governance.
