GM β Back to the fiat mines today. My cover story is that I'm a normie working in the normie world, but they don't know that I'm actually stacking bitcoin and posting on nostr like a lunatic.

Just spent a bit of time crawling through some Twitter threads DMed to me by someone still in thrall to that site. Without fail, every reply chain devolved into case studies in mental illness, hate, fear, and propaganda bots.
Nostr is a small community and it's hard to find much content that isn't about Nostr itself or bitcoin, but the vibe here sure is different (and positive.)
Maybe that will change as it grows and attracts more people, I sure hope not.
GM β Christmas dinner leftovers for breakfast is a grand tradition.
GM β Today begins my annual "infrastructure week", where I review the setup and configuration of every device in my home, office, and lab, audit all MAC addresses seen on their LANs, update/delete/archive software and projects as appropriate, and take the opportunity to make breaking changes that I didn't dare during busier times. Gotta clean out the cruft and stay on top of security...

Learnin' kubernetes. Can't tell yet if it is a haven of joy or pit of despair.

Prepared now for armageddon!

Passed by this lambo dealership while cycling today and almost stopped in to ask how many bitcoin, but figured I should just wait a few weeks for a better deal π

Itβs been a year since I deleted Twitter, and set up new profiles on Mastodon/Fediverse and now Nostr. Itβs really interesting to see who of the people I followed ended up on each, or remained only with Twitter.
The Fediverse is where a lot of my academic and professional colleagues ended up, while Nostr is where many of the Bitcoin folks I know are now, and itβs a pretty disjoint set. Also, the cultures and norms are very different between the communities.
Hopefully they come together at some point, but network effects are difficult to overcome.
Touching grass...

GM β Maybe the GM posts should be treated like warrant canaries, when you don't see them from someone you wonder if they are OK π

GM β What a difference twelve words makes.
The correct number of sats to own can be mathematically derived:
L = N + 1,
...where N is how many sats you own, and L is the correct amount.
GM β We've had an ample reminder that every single thing about how Bitcoin works is voluntary.
From the decision to acquire it, spend it, accept it in trade, hodl it, mine it, or have nothing to do with it, as well as the freedom to criticize those who make these decisions differently from you, we are all here by choice, not by decree or violence.
In fact, in the absence of being able to coerce others into acting differently, social commentary and choosing to interact or not *are all we have* to influence others.
This is a huge step forward in human relationships, let's celebrate it.
