NASA captures a dying star blowing a giant bubble of gas 3,000 light years away.
Hubble Space Telescope has captured an image of the dying carbon star U Camelopardalis as it sheds its outer layers to form a large, spherical bubble of gas and dust.
When you look at a star, you see its past. Light takes time to reach Earth. For example, sunlight takes about 8.5 minutes to reach Earth's surface. The bright star Sirius, roughly 8.6 light-years away, appears as it was 8.6 years ago.
