Get in. Find your IRL people. Form IRL community. Keep your mouth shut about it. You aren't going to change your local world by shouting to the larger world.
Build and change your local culture. Don't worry so much about what everyone else is doing.
If your thing works, they'll come to you and clone/adapt your model for their community.

I'm the BTC tech guy in my IRL circles. Knowing what I know about me, that's kinda sad. I mean... I know what I know, but I know what I don't know too. They have no idea how far behind they are if they're looking to me.
