Backend code feels more approachable to reason about _fully_, because you're likely to own the machines where it runs, too. Frontend code is an entirely different animal - it will run on thousands of different client devices in all sorts of different connection, resource-availability, interface and user requirement contexts. For the web, i mean. desktop is a different story.
