Every major shift in empires, societies, and cultures has generally come with a change in the calendar system. We currently use a solar calendar, but it was common in the past to use a lunar, or luni-solar calendar too. Perhaps Bitcoin will be the first calendar system that humans use which is not based on the celestial bodies.
