One thing I noticed after I completed my coaching training in 2022 is that I went through an identity crisis. I had trouble asking for money to coach people because my identity and worth was tied to writing code. Once I let go of the limiting belief that I could only create value for others by writing code, the resistance to ask for money faded as well. I also learned from experienced coaches that the value for clients is actually higher when you charge more money. Clients show up on time, more prepared, and committed to making a change when they paid a meaningful amount before a session. They simply got more out of it. They weren’t paying for my time; but for their own growth. It was just my ego standing in my way.
I believe engineers are going through a similar identity crisis with AI. I feel the same resistance towards adopting AI tools as I did when learning to become a coach. But what if the value we create as engineers isn’t in the ascii characters we type on a screen, but in our creativity and our desire to solve customer problems.

“If you’re looking for a call to action, then I give the same advice to both humans and companies: Switch to chat. Ditch completions. Stop writing code by hand. Learn how validation and verification work in the new world. Familiarize yourself with the space, and follow the state of the art. Stop whinging and turn this into an engineering exercise. Stay on top of it. You can do it.”

Really enjoyed this one. Already downloaded his other book “The Untethered Soul”

After half a day of blackout the power is back in Portugal.
My girlfriend who grew up in communist Romania was the most calm. She just drove to the store, paid by card and lit some candles. “What’s all the fuss about!”

Imagine all the wallets and nostr apps that will come from being able to vibe code on top of all these SDKs. It’ll be like fuzz testing the market to accelerate peer-to-peer adoption.

Really enjoyed my time here in Bitcoin Jungle. So cool to see all the vendors accept bitcoin at the farmer’s market. Pura Vida from Costa Rica 🤙

Updated the StashPay website. I’m pivoting away from the freelancer focus and making a minimalist wallet for everyone.
I’ve realized I care more about exploring peer-to-peer payments UX than building a B2B business.
I’m also considering turning Onion Mill into a non-profit to get more people involved via grants. But for now I’ll continue to self-fund my work. I kinda like being an independent voice.
