Account identities on #nostr , much like #bitcoin self-custody wallets, require users take personal responsibility, and the initiative to educate themselves. Learning about the underlying protocols, and gaining an understanding of how they function is a requirement to responsibly participate. There’s no one to call for help, if you can’t access because you lost your keys. This is one of the worthwhile convenience trade-offs you make for decentralized and highly censorship resistant money and speech. If you have a bank account with a positive balance, you don’t have any money, you have a creditor/debtor agreement with your bank. You are a creditor to your bank, and they are your debtor. #Bitcoin fixes this potentially pernicious arrangement.

#Nostrich #plebs today’s as good a day as any to make the switch from a custodial Lightning wallet (WoS, BlueWallet, etc.) to a non-custodial solution. BlueWallet will be shutting down its custodial Lightning wallet service as of April 30th, 2023. If you are using it, take your sats out. Avoid this situation altogether in the future, take the non-custodial route. Wallet of Satoshi is a closed source app. Among other issues, you could be rug pulled at any time. Breez & Phoenix are easy to implement solutions, each with their own trade offs, but already better than others mentioned. Or if you are feeling adventurous you could consider running your own Lightning node. There are many great guides out there, and I’m always happy to help those looking to make the leap.
