It would be nice to be able to peek at the Global feed without being bombarded with spam notes. Anyone have any ideas on possible solutions to this?

I believe in Bitcoin (BTC). If it's not bitcoin, it's a shitcoin. NFTs are a waste of time, unless you're looking for a way to launder money. If that's your goal, just convert to Monero, then from Monero back to Bitcoin again to cover your tracks.
